Abstract:

Diabetes and obesity represent significant public health challenges that have been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), especially among younger populations. With the prevalence of both diabetes and obesity rising globally, understanding their impact on the cardiovascular health of younger individuals is critical. Recent epidemiological studies have shown a significant association between these conditions and the early onset of cardiovascular events. This review aims to explore the relationship between diabetes, obesity, and the development of cardiovascular disease in younger populations, focusing on the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms, prevalence rates, and the effectiveness of preventive measures.
Both diabetes and obesity contribute to various cardiovascular risk factors, including hypertension, dyslipidaemia, and insulin resistance, which are known to increase the likelihood of developing cardiovascular diseases. The younger population, often considered at lower risk for heart disease, has been increasingly affected by these conditions, leading to a rise in early cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Factors such as sedentary lifestyles, poor dietary habits, and genetic predispositions contribute to the growing burden of these diseases. Early detection, intervention, and lifestyle modifications are essential for reducing the long-term health risks associated with these conditions. Furthermore, public health strategies focusing on prevention and health promotion are crucial in addressing the rising incidence of diabetes and obesity-related cardiovascular diseases in younger individuals.
This review synthesizes the latest epidemiological data, highlighting the need for targeted interventions and policies aimed at reducing the prevalence of these conditions in younger populations to prevent the early onset of cardiovascular disease.
